About Shelley Hayes
About
Thank you for visiting my website. I’m Shelley Hayes, President of Diamond
Principle, LLC. My purpose in life is to learn to ~ Listen to My Self with Tender
Grace, Embrace Joyful Self Reliance, and teach others how to do the same. I
do this through my passion for coaching. Here is a little bit about me and my
path to discovering my own Authentic Success...
I have had many experiences in my journey through life which allow me to have
the utmost compassion and empathy for others. I learned important lessons
toward determination, and strength from being raised partially in a single parent
home. I learned how to turn surviving into thriving from the portion of my life in
which I lived with an abusive step-father. I learned self-reliance and confidence
from my escape from that abuse when I ran away from home as a teen. I then
learned about unconditional love from the amazing experience of becoming a
single parent myself at twenty years old. My journey has also taught me how to
heal shame and embrace humility in order to achieve our dreams. As I was
pregnant and waiting for my new life to begin I attended classes for my G.E.D.
completing it before my first son was born. I have two sons now and my
children have always inspired me to be the best person I can possibly be.
As I began to find my voice and my calling toward my own Authentic Success I
tested out many paths. After receiving my G.E.D. I attended a 9 month certificate
program to become a legal secretary. Upon graduation from that program with
a 4.0 my confidence was growing. I view that program and my temporary stint in
that career as a powerful stepping stone. Why? Well, I didn't actually want to
attend that program or move toward that field, but I listened to other people
rather than listening to my Authentic Self. I listened to other peoples'
expectations rather than to my own inner calling. Additionally, the first job I held
as a legal secretary was for a very unstable attorney who was verbally abusive.
Again this was a wonderful lesson for me because as I was gaining confidence
and striving to live up to my own higher expectations, I decided to leave that job
to go to school to be a counselor.
I continued to learn how to listen to my Authentic Self during my time attending
University classes. I began with a major in Counseling and Human Services,
then changed to Psychology, and then became truly inspired in a Women's
Studies Sociology class. Each of these programs taught me more and more
about who I was and who I wanted to reach in my service to the world. I received
my bachelor's degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology in 2001. I have
always had an inner drive to eliminate my fears and each step along the way
has taught me how important it is to do as Susan Jeffers, PhD states, and "Feel
the Fear and Do It Anyway!"
After a series of abusive relationships I decided to take a look at the value I put
on my own self worth. I learned amazing lessons about myself from each of
these relationships. First, I learned about what I don't want in a partner - which
led me to find what I do want and what we all deserve. I am now in an equal,
beautiful and loving relationship where I am supported to be the best me
possible. I live a wonderful and safe home and my family is the most important
thing in my life.
All of this drove me toward being a passionate leader with accomplishments I
am proud of in the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors. I have over 8 years
experience in managing organizations and coaching employees, including
more than three years' experience working as an executive director for a not-for-
profit organization.
My path toward self-improvement and continual growth further guided me
through my fears and hesitations in attending graduate school. As I worked full
time as an executive director of a not-for-profit organization I completed graduate
school and I now hold an MBA (Masters in Business Administration) and an
MMGT (Masters in Management). It was in this process that I worked with my
first coach and my life was changed forever! The uplifting and inspiring support
of my coach made a tremendous difference in my life and I knew I wanted to be
of service to people in the same way.
I am currently a corporate trainer developing a Corporate University with
leadership and human potential programs for over 300 employees. My passion
and ability to coach, lead, and inspire has led me to participate on boards and
volunteer committees throughout the Northwest region of the United States
I am also now a Certified Professional Coach and received certification from the
International Coach Academy in the Certified Professional Coach Program. The
CPC certification provides a strong background and thorough training in life,
business, and executive coaching. The International Coach Academy is a
global organization and has recently started the first coaching program in China.
